Telangana DGP Jitender, along with Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand and Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, conducted an extensive review of the Ganesh immersion procession route from Balapur to Tank Bund on Saturday, September 14, 2024. The police are mobilizing nearly 25,000 personnel to ensure the festival runs smoothly, with comprehensive plans for their accommodation and sustenance during the event.
The inspection involved a thorough walkthrough with senior police officials and representatives from various government departments, starting at the Balapur Ganesh Temple and covering significant areas along the 19-km route, including Chandrayanagutta, Falaknuma, Charminar, Nayapul, MJ Market, and Telugu Talli Flyover.
DGP Jitender stressed the importance of thorough preparation and inter-departmental coordination to tackle any challenges that may arise. Commissioner Anand underscored the police’s essential role in facilitating the procession’s seamless movement. The officials closely evaluated traffic patterns and safety measures at key points such as Rajesh Medical Hall to Gulzar Houz, MJ Market Junction, and Telugu Talli Junction.
To ensure timely transportation of idols, police have reiterated the necessity of adhering to height restrictions and maintaining clear junctions. Several roads designated for the procession will be closed to general traffic, and diversions will be enacted. Special units, including Quick Response Teams, dog squads, anti-chain snatching teams, and SHE teams, will be actively deployed.
A command control center will be established from September 17 at the Command Control Centre in Banjara Hills, featuring senior officials from multiple departments.
In a statement to the media, Commissioner Anand assured the public that exhaustive measures are in place for the peaceful execution of both the Ganesh idol immersion and Milad-Un-Nabi celebrations in the city. He revealed that joint inspections of all procession routes were conducted alongside officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other key agencies. With optimism for a harmonious celebration, Anand called for public cooperation with law enforcement during the festivities.
Additionally, Rachakonda police confirmed their commitment to ensuring the Ganesh idols’ installation and immersion occur flawlessly, urging both organizers and devotees for collaboration. Commissioner Sudheer Babu noted that roads leading to Balapur for the Ganesh immersion are undergoing necessary repairs to prevent disruptions during the Ganesh Shobha Yatra, with heightened police visibility and extensive CCTV surveillance in effect.
