Marvel Rivals developer NetEase has issued an apology to players who were unjustly banned for cheating due to false accusations. Despite players not using any cheating software, many found themselves affected by these erroneous bans, though the exact number remains undisclosed.
Acknowledging the issue, NetEase stated, “We sincerely apologize for this situation and want to assure you that we do not and will not ban players who are playing fairly and without cheating.” The developer explained that certain players using compatibility layer programs were mistakenly flagged as cheaters. They have now identified the causes of these false bans, lifted the restrictions, and expressed regret for the confusion caused.
In response, NetEase is actively enhancing its anti-cheat measures and encourages players to report any cheating incidents. “Our mission is to provide all players with a fair, just, and enjoyable gaming experience. Therefore, preventing and identifying cheaters is one of our top priorities,” the company added. They have committed substantial resources to improve detection speed and accuracy and urged players to report any cheating behavior through the in-game reporting system.
This apology emerges as Marvel Rivals prepares for its Season 1 launch, featuring the much-anticipated Fantastic Four characters, with a trailer expected soon.
Despite the controversy, Marvel Rivals has achieved remarkable success, amassing 10 million players within three days and reaching 20 million in just two weeks. The game also garnered significant popularity on Steam, peaking at 480,990 concurrent players during its launch weekend, ranking among the top five most-played games on the platform.
