Delhi experienced an unusual cold snap on Sunday, December 15, 2024, with the minimum temperature dropping to 4.9° Celsius, which is three degrees below the seasonal average, according to the Met office.
The capital recorded its coldest temperature of the winter season just two days earlier, with a low of 4.5° Celsius on Thursday.
In addition to the cold temperatures, the India Meteorological Department forecasts a maximum temperature around 23° Celsius for the day.
Environmental conditions also remain a concern as Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) continues to show ‘poor’ levels, registering a reading of 257 at 9 a.m.
Specific areas such as Anand Vihar, Alipur, Bawana, and Burari Crossing reported AQI levels of 292, 256, 298, and 288, respectively. Meanwhile, Dwarka Sector 8 saw an AQI of 258, Nehru Nagar 299, Rohini 288, and Mundka recorded a reading of 317.
