The Ernakulam Sub Court has issued a stay on the Kerala Film Producers Association’s (KFPA) decision to suspend producer Sandra Thomas from its primary membership.
This legal action follows a petition filed by Thomas, challenging a ruling from the executive committee meeting held on October 28. The committee had accused her of “defaming” its members through unfounded allegations.
Thomas contended that her concerns regarding serious issues impacting women producers in the Malayalam film industry were overlooked. She argued that the disciplinary measures were an attempt to suppress her voice on critical matters.
Previously, Thomas had criticized the KFPA for not adequately addressing the K. Hema Committee’s findings, which investigated the challenges faced by women in the Malayalam film landscape.
