A tragic accident on Sunday along the Sagamu-Ogijo road near Lafarge Company resulted in the deaths of a man, his wife, Josephine, and another individual identified as Kolawole Moshood.
The collision involved a Foton truck with the registration number EKY 778 XM, a space wagon car with the registration number AM 299 AHD, and a Bajaj motorcycle with the number plate JGB 265 WG.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident, attributing the cause to the reckless driving of the truck driver, who lost control and struck the motorcycle from behind. This impact caused the motorcycle to then collide with the space wagon car.
According to police reports, the accident transpired when the truck veered from its lane and collided violently with the motorcycle, which was carrying a 25-year-old rider, Moses Ekpolo, and his 19-year-old wife, Josephine.
Tragically, all three individuals, including a passenger in the space wagon, Kolawole Moshood, sustained severe injuries. They were rushed to Idera Private Hospital in Sagamu, where they were pronounced dead upon arrival. Their remains have since been taken to the Idera Mortuary.
Authorities are urging drivers of large vehicles to exercise caution and encouraging all road users to maintain safe distances from articulated vehicles to prevent similar incidents.
