Charleston, South Carolina artist Contour is set to release his highly anticipated album, Take Off From Mercy, on November 1, marking his first collaboration with Mexican Summer. This follows the success of his standout 2022 album, Onwards!. Fans can get a sneak peek of the new release with the tracks “Theresa” and “Gin Rummy,” available for listening now.
Known for his musical innovation, Contour, whose real name is Khari Lucas, collaborated with renowned artists Saul Williams, Mndsgn, and co-producer Omari Jazz on the new album. Drawing inspiration from Toni Morrison’s Song of Solomon and the legacy of Southern songwriters, this project promises to blend rich storytelling with mesmerizing soundscapes.
Take Off From Mercy will be Contour’s second album of 2024, following the release of Reflections Vol. 2: Black Decelerant in June. The artist continues to push boundaries and explore themes of identity and heritage through his music.
