Microsoft Struggles with Xbox Firmware Updates
Microsoft is facing significant challenges with its recent Xbox firmware updates. Following a troublesome Xbox Insider update that reverted consoles to their factory settings, the company has now admitted that the latest firmware for Xbox wireless controllers is causing Bluetooth connectivity and performance issues.
An announcement on the Xbox support site revealed that the firmware update is particularly problematic for “older non-Xbox devices.” Microsoft recommends that players experiencing Bluetooth connectivity issues revert their controllers to a previous firmware version. The company is actively seeking a comprehensive solution to these issues.
In a statement, Xbox Support acknowledged the problem with the latest controller firmware update and assured users that a team is working on a resolution. Until a fix is implemented, players are advised to follow the steps provided for reverting to an earlier firmware version.
While the Bluetooth issues are frustrating, they are overshadowed by the fallout from the Xbox Insider update. Users reported that the update did not delete their downloaded games; however, it caused a full reset of other settings, including user profiles. Ironically, this update aimed to resolve a minor issue with profile visibility, but led to unintended data loss.
Players not participating in the Xbox Insider program remain unaffected by this issue. For those enrolled, it is possible to leave the preview program, with hopes that the final version of Xbox Insider will eliminate these complications, as testing continues.
