ECNETNews reports that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has raised alarms over escalating violence towards Hindus, Buddhists, and other minority communities in Bangladesh amidst the recent political unrest. The organization is calling on the interim government to implement decisive measures to halt these violent incidents.
RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale described the targeted assaults, including killings, property destruction, and gender-based violence against Hindu individuals as unforgivable. He emphasized that the attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh are particularly distressing.
‘Urgent Action Needed’
“The RSS strongly condemns these violent actions. We urge the interim government of Bangladesh to act swiftly to end these incidents. Furthermore, the government must ensure that lives, property, and dignity of victims are protected,” Mr. Hosabale stated.
The Sangh Parivar has also called upon the global community and political parties in India to unite in support of the affected communities during this crucial period.
Mr. Hosabale claimed that the Government of India, as a supportive neighbor, is actively seeking to assist in this situation. “The RSS urges the Indian government to take all necessary steps to guarantee the safety of Hindus, Buddhists, and other minorities in Bangladesh,” he said.
‘A Time of Crisis’
A delegation from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), affiliated with the RSS, met with the Indian Home Minister to discuss the dire conditions facing Hindus in Bangladesh.
VHP central secretary general highlighted the anguish and distress felt by the Indian Hindu community in response to the violence, including murders and arson targeting their counterparts in Bangladesh.
Emergency Measures
“We have called for immediate action from the Indian government to secure the welfare of minorities in Bangladesh,” he stated. The Home Minister assured the delegation that the Union government is approaching the situation with the necessary level of seriousness and urgency.
He further indicated optimism that the head of the interim government in Bangladesh, who has acknowledged the incidents of violence, would take prompt action against those responsible.
The VHP is also preparing to set up an emergency helpline for Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh, with details to be announced soon.
