Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, is committed to executing transformative projects statewide while steering clear of political conflicts leading up to the 2027 elections. This commitment was reinforced by the recently appointed Commissioner for Works, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, in his address at the Ministry of Information in Asaba.
Aniagwu dispelled rumors regarding the governor’s political affiliations and underscored the administration’s dedication to governance. He reiterated that Governor Oborevwori remains a dedicated member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and is recognized as a prominent leader among Nigerian party officials.
In his remarks, Aniagwu outlined Oborevwori’s strategy to counter critics with tangible projects that propel the state forward. He emphasized that the governor is not only continuing inherited projects but also launching new initiatives to ensure the completion of ongoing works.
Key infrastructural developments include the Okpanam-Ibusa Bypass, the Beneku Bridge, the Asaba-Ughelli Dual Carriageway, and a 6-Story High Court Complex in Asaba. Additionally, numerous roads in Warri, Isoko North, and Isoko South have been completed, with more projects in the pipeline.
Aniagwu noted that the Warri and Effurun areas are experiencing substantial redevelopment, with Julius Berger leading efforts on three flyover bridges and expanded roadworks. These initiatives aim to redefine the Warri-Effurun corridor and enhance economic activities.
Over N200 billion has been allocated to reduce the state’s debt, and contractors have been mobilized for upcoming projects with timely certificate clearances for outstanding works. Furthermore, Aniagwu highlighted Oborevwori’s call for Deltans to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing that collaboration with the federal government is crucial for effective governance beneficial to all residents of Delta State.
