PHOENIX — Authorities are currently investigating a shooting incident at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix that resulted in three individuals being injured by gunfire, along with one person suffering from stab wounds.
The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m. at an airport restaurant located outside the security checkpoints in Terminal 4.
Among the injured, an adult female sustained life-threatening injuries, while two adult males were reported to be in stable condition and expected to survive. Another male with stab wounds was also in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations reveal that all individuals involved were acquaintances who engaged in a physical altercation, during which one person discharged a firearm.
“It appears this was a family dispute that escalated beyond control,” stated a police spokesperson.
Following the shooting, law enforcement detained two individuals in a nearby parking garage. Authorities have not yet disclosed potential charges and are actively investigating the circumstances that led the group to the airport.
The shooting prompted a temporary closure of a security checkpoint in Terminal A and a brief suspension of service at the terminal’s PHX Sky Train station.
“This was understandably alarming, especially on Christmas evening when many are trying to reach their destinations,” the spokesperson added.
