SINGAPORE – China has made a significant commitment by contributing USD 1,000,000 to a newly established sub-fund aimed at promoting digitalization for green transitions within APEC initiatives. This initiative is designed to enhance policy exchange, facilitate information sharing, and build capacity to foster digitalization and innovation that support sustainable economic growth and combat climate change.
The contribution was formalized through a memorandum of understanding signed by key representatives, marking the establishment of the sub-fund, which will bolster resources for sustainable and digital economic development.
This new sub-fund focuses on implementing the objectives laid out in the APEC Putrajaya Vision, Aotearoa Plan of Action, and the Bangkok Goals on Bio-Circular-Green Economy. Priority areas include the regional adoption of digital solutions, the integration of green technologies, exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence in promoting green transitions, and creating an environment that nurtures innovation and investment, while emphasizing the synergies between sustainable growth and digital transformation.

“Digital transformation transcends mere technology; it is a crucial driver of sustainable growth,” a spokesperson noted. “By fostering innovation and bridging the digital divide, we are working towards a future where economic opportunities align harmoniously with environmental responsibilities.”
Aligned with the Putrajaya Vision 2040, Aotearoa Plan of Action, and the Bangkok Goals on the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG), APEC is committed to accelerating digital transformation and promoting sustainable, inclusive growth, while tackling environmental issues such as climate change and natural disasters.
