Jamaican gospel and reggae pioneer Carlene Davis has launched her 13th gospel album, titled Songs of Zion, on February 28. This album, her 23rd overall, showcases a harmonious blend of roots reggae, gospel, and Nyahbinghi, encapsulating Davis’ Jamaican roots while delivering powerful messages of faith and hope.
Co-produced with her husband, the album features some of Jamaica’s finest musicians, including Dean Fraser, Dave Green, Dale Brown, Othneil Lewis, and Kenroy “Shortman” Mullings. The standout single, “Rapha,” is already gaining traction worldwide.
Davis, a notable figure in the Jamaican music scene, was honored with the Order of Distinction in 2010. Her career spans decades, with multiple hits such as “Dial My Number.” Songs of Zion is the first in a trio of releases from Glory Music, alongside Pastor Sara Cowan’s Now (The Spoken Word) and Verlando Small’s Reggae Sax (Gospel Edition).
