It’s an exciting day for the Call of Duty community! The highly anticipated Squid Game collaboration officially launched today, January 3, alongside a major update for Black Ops 6 and Warzone. With the release of full patch notes, players can look forward to numerous changes and enhancements.
The update introduces increased mantle speeds across Black Ops 6, Zombies, and Warzone, allowing players to navigate more fluidly. Players can now open and close doors while sprinting, enhancing gameplay dynamics. The new Cleaver melee weapon is also up for grabs as part of the Squid Game event rewards available through the event pass, priced at 1,100 COD Points for the premium track.
Notably, Activision has alerted players that some Operator selections and customizations may reset following the update, although no further explanations were provided.
In Black Ops 6, new Squid Game-themed multiplayer modes have been added, including the fan-favorite Red Light, Green Light, and a thrilling new mode called Roulette Handgun. This mode offers players a powerful handgun, but every shot comes with a risk of exploding the weapon, adding a layer of suspense to combat.
While there are no weapon balance adjustments in this patch, Scorestreaks are receiving tuning updates. Players can expect reduced maximum damage for the RC-XD, while Care Packages will now contain fewer Scout Pulses. On the upside, the Sentry Turret has increased health and fire rate, and the Watchdog Helo has had its damage boosted.
The Zombies mode also sees exciting new content with the addition of Dead Light, Green Light. In this mode, players compete to earn zombie kills during the Green Light phase, but must be cautious, as any movement during the Red Light phase results in drained essence. The Dead Light phase introduces increasingly difficult zombie waves for an intensified experience.
In Warzone, the latest patch resolves numerous bugs, including one that interfered with the exfil animation during Ranked Play, and another that erroneously prevented players from deploying an Advanced UAV in certain situations. Warzone’s Urzikstan map has also been updated with a set of rotating challenges based on the Squid Game theme, where teams are eliminated each round, adding an element of strategy to each match.
Stay tuned for the full patch notes, which outline all changes in detail.
Lastly, with the global phenomenon of Squid Game continuing to capture audiences, Season 2 is currently streaming, with Season 3 set to release later this year.
