HYDERABAD
T. Harish Rao, a senior leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), announced that the party’s legal team is considering an appeal to the Supreme Court following the dismissal of a petition filed by working president K.T. Rama Rao. The petition sought to quash the case initiated by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) related to the Formula-E race.
Addressing the media at K.T. Rama Rao’s residence in Nandi Nagar, Hyderabad, Harish Rao emphasized that the legal cell would review the judgement before making a decision. He underscored Rama Rao’s willingness to cooperate with the investigation, noting that he had visited the ACB office prior to the court ruling and was prepared to return following a notice from the agency on January 9.
Harish Rao clarified that the court’s ruling allowed for the continuation of the investigation based on claims of corruption related to the Formula-E event, but did not pertain to any punitive measures. He reaffirmed the BRS’s commitment to addressing unfulfilled electoral promises made by the current government, despite facing numerous legal challenges.
The BRS leader differentiated between the case involving A. Revanth Reddy, who was arrested in a cash-for-vote scandal, and the allegations against K.T. Rama Rao. He argued that Rama Rao facilitated the Formula-E race to enhance Hyderabad’s reputation, questioning the basis of the corruption claims when no financial misconduct was evident.
Harish Rao alleged that the current Chief Minister initiated the case against Rama Rao as a distraction from his own failures, particularly in fulfilling promises regarding Rythu Bharosa and investment support for farmers during the Kharif season. The government, he stated, is facing increasing discontent from the citizenry, especially among the agricultural community.
