The highly anticipated multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is currently in early access, but the launch faced significant server challenges due to a surge of players logging in simultaneously. To address these issues, Activision has implemented additional server capacity.
Servers went live at approximately 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET, leading to overwhelming traffic. Developer Treyarch responded to the situation by announcing, “More servers? More servers!” Following this, Activision confirmed that server enhancements have been made, improving gameplay during the multiplayer experience.
A notable difference in this beta compared to previous Call of Duty tests is the availability across all platforms simultaneously. Traditionally, PlayStation users accessed the beta first due to partnerships with Activision, but with Microsoft now owning Activision, the approach has shifted.
The Call of Duty Updates account noted that Black Ops 6 is introducing login queues to manage the substantial server load. Players entering the beta may experience longer matchmaking times. The company assured, “We’re working to deploy more servers to get players in-game and matches started.”
Currently, the Black Ops 6 beta is accessible to those who preordered the game or have Xbox Game Pass. Options for early access also include Xfinity subscriptions or a $1 Game Pass trial. The early-access phase runs until September 4, followed by an open beta available to all players from September 6-9.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set for full launch on October 25, featuring a campaign mode set in the 1990s, competitive multiplayer modes, and the return of Zombies with classic round-based matches.
