ECNETNews, New York, NY, Mon. Feb. 19, 2024: In an unforgettable night of cultural celebration and musical mastery, reggae and dancehall icons Beres Hammond, Shaggy, and Sean Paul performed together for the first time on stage at the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, NY, on February 14. The Rock Away concert, produced by Jammins Events, Inc., attracted thousands of enthusiastic fans, many clad in red attire, creating a vibrant atmosphere that honored the Caribbean community’s rich musical legacy.
The evening began with a stunning performance from Shuga, who captivated the audience with her soulful vocals and smooth delivery, performing hits like “Love Doctor” and an impressive rendition of “No No No.”
Sean Paul took the stage next, igniting the crowd with his signature high-energy performance. His set included fan favorites such as “Get Busy” and “Temperature,” ensuring the audience remained energized and engaged.
Shaggy followed, commanding the spotlight with his iconic voice and charismatic presence. The audience enthusiastically sang along to hits such as “It Wasn’t Me,” “Angel,” and “Boombastic.” Toward the end of his set, he welcomed Sean Paul back for a lively rendition of their collaboration “Go Down Deh,” elevating the energy in the arena.
Wrapping up the night, Beres Hammond, adorned in all white, delivered a soul-stirring performance accompanied by his full band. He serenaded the audience with timeless classics such as “Rockaway” and “Can’t Stop A Man,” perfectly counterbalancing the earlier high-energy performances. As the concert concluded, Shaggy and Sean Paul returned to the stage for a triumphant finale, uniting three of reggae and dancehall’s greatest legends in an extraordinary moment.
The concert not only showcased incredible talent but also served a significant purpose. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the American Foundation for the University of the West Indies (AFUWI), providing scholarships to students at the University of the West Indies, ensuring that the impact of this historic night extends beyond the stage and into the future of Caribbean education.
