Parkour is set to receive an exciting transformation in the upcoming title, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft recently introduced Naoe, one of the game’s new protagonists, who brings unique acrobatic skills, including the ability to perform a Naruto run.
In an extensive overview, Ubisoft revealed significant updates to the parkour mechanics in Shadows, including a revised button layout. Notably, the crouch and dodge functions have swapped places, enabling players to crouch or lie prone during gameplay. This innovative feature allows Naoe to eliminate targets while in a lying position.
Both Naoe and Yasuke, the other lead character, can execute dodges while crouching. However, Naoe stands out with her ability to dodge from a prone stance. Additional parkour maneuvers showcased for Naoe include wall-run ejects and backward dodges.
While both characters share some climbing and parkour abilities, Naoe’s agility allows her to perform a recovery roll after falling. However, developers cautioned that not every wall in Shadows will be climbable, urging players to use grappling hooks strategically and search for surfaces with handholds.
For players preferring a straightforward experience, Shadows will feature a Canon Mode where major story decisions are made automatically. Furthermore, the game will unveil a fresh direction for the modern-day narrative. Information regarding the battle pass has surfaced, indicating that rewards in the Animus Hub will be available for free.
Get ready for the action-packed release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, launching on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 14, 2025.
