In a significant turn of events, a notorious history-sheeter was shot in the leg in Hubballi during a confrontation with police. This incident underscores the ongoing crackdown by law enforcement on criminal elements in the region, following an altercation that left two police officers injured.
The incident unfolded late Sunday night while police were attempting to apprehend the history-sheeter, Aftab Karadigudda, in connection with a violent gang rivalry in Kasabapet Police limits. The situation escalated when Aftab assaulted the officers in a bid to flee, prompting Police Inspector Raghavendra Hallur to fire a shot to prevent his escape.
The clash was triggered by a separate fight that occurred earlier, resulting in severe injuries to a man named Javoor Bepari, who was subsequently admitted to KIMS Hospital for treatment.
Following the hospital visit by Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar, it was revealed that the police had already arrested seven individuals the same night following complaints from both warring groups. Commissioner Shashikumar emphasized that the police’s swift actions aim to restore order and address escalating violence in the area.
Both injured officers, Raju Rathod and Palayya, are currently receiving medical care at KIMS Hospital alongside Aftab Karadigudda, who remains under police custody.
