Allison Russell has announced a rescheduling of her North American tour, originally set for October and November 2023, now moved to April and May 2025. The reason for this shift is her exciting new role in Anaïs Mitchell’s acclaimed Broadway musical, Hadestown, where she will make her debut as Persephone on Tuesday, November 12, at New York’s Walter Kerr Theatre.
In a heartfelt statement, Russell expressed her enthusiasm for this monumental opportunity: “It is deeply meaningful to be making my Broadway debut as Persephone, a role I have passionately explored through poetry and song since childhood. I am honored to join the sisterhood of artists who have portrayed this character, becoming part of this extraordinary ensemble and the legacy of Hadestown. This is a dream come true, and I look forward to this journey!”
Following her Broadway debut, Russell will hit the road for her tour in support of her album, The Returner. She will be accompanied by special guest Kara Jackson throughout the tour.
