WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — On a bright Saturday morning, the atmosphere was charged outside President Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course as supporters prepared to show their unwavering support. Local resident Alan Mentser received word that law enforcement would be closing a nearby road, signaling it was almost time for the president’s arrival.
Mentser, 65, along with dedicated followers, have established a routine over the years, gathering at their designated spot to welcome Trump as he comes to play golf. They meticulously track Air Force One’s arrival and keep an eye on traffic cameras to anticipate the presidential motorcade’s movement.
This commitment, fueled by passion, is evident in their preparations. Mentser proudly pointed to a massive banner featuring Trump, asserting that each one costs $300 and that he owns several to showcase their loyalty.
“I think it’s worth it, especially when our president feels besieged by fake news and fabricated scandals,” Mentser expressed, highlighting the importance of these brief moments of connection with their leader.
“It might only be 30 seconds, but those moments matter,” he added as the police sirens signaled the event’s commencement.
As the motorcade approached, Mentser shouted anticipation to the crowd. Celebrations began as a member of their group switched the music to the iconic “YMCA,” a staple rallying cry for Trump supporters.
The convoy of vehicles arrived, and Trump, donning his signature red “Make America Great Again” hat, waved at the eager supporters with enthusiasm.
“President Trump! We love you!” shouted supporter Brady Collier, 31, joining in the atmosphere of excitement.
Their brief encounter lasted less than half a minute, but the energy remained high as a woman, visibly disapproving, drove by, eliciting reactions from the crowd.
Collier, undeterred, commented that every glimpse of Trump felt special, as the motorcade seemed to slow down more than usual, providing him with a closer view of the President.
“It’s a moment you just can’t top, other than perhaps meeting Jesus Christ,” Collier shared with excitement.
A winter resident from Indiana, Collier takes every chance to support Trump, participating in these events whenever he can.
Another loyal supporter, Jared Petry, 24, originally from Ohio, has joined the crowds at the golf course regularly, recalling previous experiences including a near-assassination attempt on Trump.
“It was terrifying to hear the popping sounds, but I knew he was safe,” Petry recalled, emphasizing his commitment to witnessing Trump’s appearances.
“He always acknowledges us; he never forgets his supporters,” Petry expressed proudly.
The supportive gathering took an unexpected turn when staff members from the golf club approached the group, offering them a meal for the first time.
Mentser described the experience as unprecedented. They enjoyed a delightful meal while keeping an eye on Trump as he played golf.
To respect the President’s focus, Mentser remarked on the importance of not disrupting his game for social media antics.
“This was a wonderful way for him to show appreciation,” Mentser concluded, reflecting on the day’s significance.
