An impressive 80-foot effigy of Ravana was ignited with vibrant 3D effects during the Vijayadashami celebration on Saturday evening at the 131st National Dussehra Fair in Kota.
The festivities also featured 60-foot-tall effigies of Ravana’s brother Kumbhakarna and son Meghnad, which were set ablaze using environmentally friendly green fireworks.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, attending as the Chief Guest, remarked, “Lord Ram exemplified an ideal life, guiding the underprivileged towards a better future during his 14 years of exile, ultimately defeating the tyrannical Ravana.”
Mr. Birla, representing the Kota-Bundi constituency, emphasized, “The life and philosophy of Lord Ram encourage us to pursue truth and righteousness,” while addressing attendees at the Kota Dussehra Ground.
Notable leaders such as Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar, MLA Sandeep Sharma, and Mayor Rajeev Bharti also graced the event alongside Kota Dussehra Fair Committee chairman Vivek Rajvanshi.
Innovative cold pyro techniques were utilized throughout the effigies to produce spectacular firework displays, accentuating the 3D aspects of Ravana’s figure.
The nectar pot in Ravana’s hand was designed to spin, enhancing the 3D illusion, while motors placed in the effigies’ teeth and navel contributed to an exciting visual experience. The effigies were ignited sequentially with the aid of advanced remotely controlled fireworks.
In a symbolic act, Ijyaraj Singh, a member of Kota’s former royal family and ex-MP, shot a ceremonial arrow to ignite the three towering effigies.
