Mdou Moctar has just revealed an upcoming album, entitled Tears of Injustice, which offers a fresh take on their prior release, Funeral for Justice. This re-recorded album features rearrangements for acoustic and traditional instruments, providing fans with a unique listening experience. The lead single, the “Injustice Version” of “Imajighen,” is already available for streaming.
The band collaborated with engineer Seth Manchester to record Tears of Injustice at the Bunker Studio in Brooklyn. The band’s bassist and producer stated, “We aimed to create a distinct version of Funeral for audiences to explore. Our live performances often showcase various arrangements, and we wanted to capture that essence in a studio setting. This album unveils a different side of our music during our more stripped-down sets.”
Tears of Injustice is set for release on February 28. The album’s tracklist includes:
- Funeral for Justice (Injustice Version)
- Imouhar (Injustice Version)
- Takoba (Injustice Version)
- Sousoume Tamacheq (Injustice Version)
- Imajighen (Injustice Version)
- Tchinta (Injustice Version)
- Oh France (Injustice Version)
- Modern Slaves (Injustice Version)
Stay tuned for this innovative album that promises to resonate deeply with fans and new listeners alike.
