Colombian music group Bomba Estéreo has teamed up with Venezuelan band Rawayana to launch a new supergroup named Astropical. The collaboration has debuted with their first single, “Me Pasa (Piscis),” accompanied by a captivating nautical-themed music video featuring the group celebrating on a boat—until it meets an unexpected fate.
Astropical includes Bomba Estéreo’s Liliana “Li” Saumet and José Castillo, alongside Rawayana’s lead vocalist Alberto “Beto” Montenegro and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Andrés “Fofo” Story. The newly formed group is preparing for an upcoming international tour, with their first performance scheduled at the Vive Latino festival in Mexico City on March 16.
Saumet emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “Astropical embodies an energy that already preceded us and needed to materialize. This is a very important time on a political, cultural, and environmental level. We need melodies and lyrics such as these as a way of shepherding the moment.”
Montenegro expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “Musically, I feel like I’m the son of Bomba Estéreo. When Li called us, it was like a dream come true. I’ve treasured the sonic universe that Bomba Estéreo navigates for so long.”
Rawayana recently celebrated their first Latin Grammy win and is nominated for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. They are also set to take the stage at Coachella this April.
