The Recording Academy and the MusiCares foundation have announced a commitment of $1 million to aid artists and music industry professionals affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, which have displaced thousands. In collaboration, these organizations are launching the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, which will also accept donations to further support those impacted. Music workers in need of assistance due to the fires can apply for relief.
“The entire music community is shocked and heartbroken by the chaos unfolding in Los Angeles,” said a spokesperson for the Recording Academy and MusiCares. “We recognize that the music industry is facing severe challenges, but we are united in our efforts to assist each other. Our organizations are dedicated to uplifting music professionals because music has an incredible ability to bring people together, and we encourage the broader industry to rally behind this cause.”
MusiCares representatives emphasized the urgent need for disaster relief, citing the high number of music professionals who have lost their homes recently. The organization is committed to providing immediate assistance to those displaced and plans to offer longer-term support as the full impact of the crisis is assessed.
Many musicians have faced significant losses due to the wildfires, prompting community-driven fundraising efforts to assist those affected. Initiatives have emerged to support various artists in need.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares have also highlighted essential resources for Los Angeles residents, including the 211LA hotline, which offers information on evacuations, road closures, emergency services, and shelter options. The Red Cross continues to operate shelters throughout the Los Angeles area, providing safety for those displaced.
For those ordered to evacuate, transportation services are stepping in to help. One service is offering a $40 credit for rides to active shelters for individuals in need. Another has introduced a promotion providing $25 vouchers for trips to facilitate evacuations.
For real-time evacuation updates and more information, residents are directed to the Los Angeles County emergency page.
