A compelling new trailer for Companion has just been unveiled, generating excitement for the upcoming film.
Scheduled for release later this month, Companion is a romantic thriller from Warner Bros. Pictures, marking Drew Hancock’s directorial debut in feature films.
What to Expect in the Companion Trailer
The trailer introduces viewers to Iris, an android portrayed by Sophie Thatcher, programmed to be the girlfriend of Jack Quaid’s character, Josh. However, the narrative takes a dark turn, as Iris reflects that one of her happiest memories involves killing Josh, hinting at a complex love story.
Jack Quaid praised the screenplay for Companion, stating it is one of the best he has ever encountered. He noted, “I never saw any of the twists coming, but it’s not necessarily a movie that relies on a big reveal; every reveal was fresh.”
Drew Hancock, who also penned the screenplay, expressed that the film stands apart from typical robot narratives. He emphasized, “This is a robot movie, but it’s not like any other robot movie that’s out right now. It’s not A.I. gone wrong; it’s A.I. gone right.”
Hancock reassured audiences that the unveiling of Thatcher’s android character is not a spoiler, as he believes the story truly begins with that revelation. He described Companion as a journey of self-discovery, fundamentally portraying a breakup narrative where the protagonist finds empowerment through self-exploration.
The film features an impressive cast, including Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, and Rupert Friend. Companion is set to hit theaters and IMAX in the United States on January 31, 2025.
