A posthumous album featuring unreleased music from Holger Czukay is set to be released on March 28. Titled Gvoon – Brennung 1, this collection showcases over an hour of music recorded by the Can co-founder in the 1990s, a transformative era during which he collaborated with emerging techno producers in Cologne.
Czukay’s decision to share these recordings came two decades later, when artist Gvoon utilized them to provide a soundtrack for an art installation inspired by solitary confinement experiences in East German prisons—a concept that deeply influenced Czukay’s original compositions. The album has been expertly mastered by Dirk Dresselhaus in celebration of what would have been Czukay’s 87th birthday in March. Stay tuned for a preview video featuring music from the album, accompanying visuals from the art installation.
