Approximately 14.1 million individuals classified as vulnerable have successfully received the government’s cash handout of 10,000 baht, as reported by the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO).
Pornchai Thiraveja, FPO Director-General, confirmed that the total transfer reached 144 billion baht, benefiting 14,407,357 recipients, thus providing a significant boost to the economy.
Thiraveja urged recipients to manage their cash wisely to maximize benefits for themselves and their families.
The FPO highlights that some eligible individuals, including those with expired disability cards or unlinked accounts, have yet to receive their payments under the program.
To assist these individuals, the ministry initiated a retry payment process starting October 21.
In this round, the Comptroller-General’s Department has authorized retry payments for 414,908 state welfare cardholders and individuals with disabilities, specifically targeting those who missed the previous payment and have recently updated their information.
Despite these efforts, 64,892 payments encountered issues such as closed bank accounts or unlinked systems.
After a subsequent retry in November, payments will cease if recipients do not respond, indicating a lack of interest in the program.
Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat reaffirmed the government’s intention to roll out a second phase of the handout scheme, maintaining the 10,000 baht per person offer.
The payment structure—whether as a lump sum or in installments—remains uncertain, as the ministry continues to finalize a timeline for the second phase.
