ABC Shows Officially Renewed
The following five ABC series have been greenlit for another season:
- Shifting Gears is set for a second season. Since its premiere, it has captured the title of the most-watched ABC series launched on Hulu and Disney+, surpassing The Conners’ previous record from 2018. Within its first week, the show attracted nearly 17 million viewers across platforms. The sitcom stars Allen and Dennings as Matt and Riley, a father-daughter pair reconnecting after Riley’s recent divorce leads her to move back in with her kids.
- Will Trent is returning for a fourth season. The series features Ramón Rodríguez as Agent Will Trent from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, known for his unique perspective and the highest clearance rate in the GBI. The cast also includes Erika Christensen, Iantha Richardson, Jake McLaughlin, Sonja Sohn, and Gina Rodriguez.
- The Rookie has been renewed for its eighth season. Created by Alexi Hawley, the show follows Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, who, as the oldest rookie in the LAPD, uses his life experiences and humor to keep pace with younger colleagues. The cast includes Mekia Cox, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Jenna Dewan, Shawn Ashmore, and Lisseth Chavez.
- 9-1-1 will return for its ninth season. Created by Emmy-winning Ryan Murphy, the series focuses on the lives of first responders, including police officers and paramedics. The ensemble cast features Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Gavin McHugh, and Ryan Guzman.
- Grey’s Anatomy is set to continue with Season 22. This long-running medical drama, created by Shonda Rhimes, remains a staple of ABC’s programming. Though Ellen Pompeo has stepped back as a series regular, she continues as the show’s narrator and executive producer.
