TAIPEI, Taiwan – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is set to host the Ketagalan Forum-2024 Indo-Pacific Security Dialogue at the Grand Hyatt Taipei on August 21. This event marks a significant milestone as the first regional security conference organized by Taiwan’s newly elected administration.
According to MOFA, the eighth iteration of the forum aims to enhance dialogue and cooperation among international stakeholders, promoting a stronger focus on peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region.
Keynote speakers for this year’s forum include influential figures such as former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda, former Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, and former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
MOFA has announced that the event will gather 15 distinguished political leaders, parliamentarians, scholars, and experts from eleven different nations, including the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, India, Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Denmark. Participants will discuss pressing issues such as gray-zone conflicts in the Taiwan Strait and the South and East China Seas, strategies for economic resilience, the crucial role of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry in global supply chains, and the impact of digital authoritarianism on democracy fueled by misinformation.
Updates on the forum will be available leading up to the event, and the proceedings will be accessible to the public via the Ketagalan Forum channel on the day of the event.
