In a historic achievement, Bhukya Yashwanth Naik from Telangana has become the youngest mountaineer to successfully summit Mt. Gorichen, one of the most challenging peaks in Arunachal Pradesh.
The 20-year-old adventurer, hailing from a tribal region in Telangana, embarked on this expedition equipped with limited resources but fueled by immense determination.
“Hard work, resilience, and a passion for mountaineering drove me to conquer some of the toughest peaks,” Yashwanth shared. His remarkable ascent took place on September 19, 2024, after an extensive 18-day journey that commenced on September 4, 2024.
This significant feat was achieved as part of the first civilian team to reach the summit of this formidable mountain, navigating a particularly treacherous route that included loose rock formations and the challenging Marine Glacier.
Throughout the expedition, Yashwanth demonstrated remarkable physical and mental fortitude, overcoming numerous obstacles. He expressed gratitude towards his mentors, supporters, and well-wishers.
“This achievement is not mine alone; it’s a testament to everyone who believed in and supported me. Climbing Mt. Gorichen has been a lifelong dream, and I am privileged to have achieved this milestone,” he stated. “I hope to inspire other young individuals to aim high and persist despite the challenges,” he continued. Yashwanth is now gearing up for his next ambitious goal – scaling Mt. Everest.
