A Thai Airways International flight heading to Singapore was forced to return to Bangkok on Sunday due to a crack detected in the cockpit window shortly after takeoff. The safety decision was made by the flight crew, who opted to return to Suvarnabhumi airport as a precautionary measure.
According to a statement by Thai Airways, flight TG401 had left Suvarnabhumi at 7 pm and was turned around when the captain noticed a crack in the outer layer of the cockpit’s left-side window, which consists of three layers of acrylic glass. The Airbus A330-300 landed safely back at the airport.
Following the incident, passengers were transferred to a replacement aircraft, designated as special flight TG401D. This flight departed Suvarnabhumi at 9 am on Monday and successfully arrived at Changi airport, Singapore, at 12:25 pm local time (11:25 am Thailand time).
