Star Wars season has brought an exciting evolution to Fortnite’s battle royale mode. This week’s update features a groundbreaking surprise: an AI-powered Darth Vader NPC who joins your squad and engages in conversation in the iconic voice of the late James Earl Jones.
While it may seem like a minor addition, the novelty of interacting with a Darth Vader-themed chatbot adds a unique layer of fun to the gameplay. Although the AI’s conversational abilities are limited, players can relish hearing Darth Vader’s recognizable phrases throughout their Fortnite experience.
Where to Find the AI Darth Vader NPC on the Fortnite Island
The AI Darth Vader can spawn randomly in one of three locations each match: at Vader Samurai’s Solitude in the southwest corner, at the Imperial checkpoint south of the tunnel near Canyon Crossing, or at an Imperial checkpoint east of Foxy Floodgate. Keep an eye out for a parked Lambda-class shuttle, as Darth Vader will always be located where the shuttle is stationed.
How to Interact with Fortnite’s AI Darth Vader Chatbot
To engage with the Darth Vader chatbot, players must first defeat him and his accompanying stormtroopers, along with any other players vying for his attention. Upon successfully defeating Vader, he will spawn a Force training portal, granting players a red lightsaber, the lightsaber throw ability, and Vader’s loyalty.
Once you’ve claimed your victory, communication with the Darth Vader chatbot is easy. Simply hold down the chat button—right on the d-pad for controllers or the Y key for keyboard users—to start a conversation.
Recently, the chatbot sparked some controversy after echoing a curse word during a live stream, but adjustments have been made to prevent this from happening in the future.
