The Lagos State Government has confirmed the dates for the much-anticipated 2025 edition of its annual end-of-year celebration, the Greater Lagos Countdown. This vibrant event will take place across five key locations in the state: Ikorodu, Badagry, Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Epe, kicking off on Tuesday at 7 PM and culminating in spectacular New Year festivities.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced an impressive lineup of top music artists set to perform during the event. He emphasized, “This December, Lagos is ready to host the largest countdown event in Africa.”
The Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 will feature some of the continent’s biggest music stars, including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Olamide, and Seyi Vibez, promising a night to remember.
In addition to these headliners, other performers such as BNXN, Qinq Madi, 9ice, Adewale Ayuba, Lojay, Adekunle Gold, and Niniola will take the stage, showcasing the rich musical talent from the region. Governor Sanwo-Olu highlighted, “This event is a celebration of our vibrant culture, our unity, and the indomitable Lagos spirit.”
He invited everyone to join in for a night filled with music, cultural displays, and the unstoppable energy that Lagos is renowned for as they welcome 2025 in true style.
However, the announcement has stirred conversation as the notable omission of Davido from the star-studded lineup has not gone unnoticed. Fans have taken to social media to express their surprise at the exclusion of the renowned Afrobeats artist, questioning the decision and its implications for the event’s representation of Nigeria’s musical landscape.
