Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has pledged to thwart any attempts by individuals or groups to undermine his administration’s commitment to delivering effective governance for the citizens of the state.
While addressing attendees at the 2025 New Year State Banquet at Government House in Port Harcourt, Fubara reassured the public of his government’s determination to safeguard the state’s interests.
“We will protect the integrity of this state at all costs. No one will be allowed to take this state for granted, regardless of the tactics employed,” Fubara stated emphatically.
He also highlighted the strong backing from influential political figures in Rivers State, emphasizing the support from former governors and key leaders. Their collective influence, according to Fubara, is vital for the political stability and growth of the region.
Reflecting on the past year, Fubara described 2024 as both challenging and rewarding, stating, “Although it was not an easy year, we concluded on a positive note. Our successes outweighed our setbacks. With your support, we anticipate an even better 2025.”
The governor reiterated his dedication to the Rivers First policy, assuring citizens that his administration will prioritize their safety and essential services. He maintained that, despite various distractions, the government remains focused on enhancing governance standards.
Fubara also noted significant advancements in health, education, and emergency services. “For over nine years, there was no functional fire service. Now, we have procured fire trucks and are refurbishing our offices. Education remains a priority, with substantial funds allocated to upgrade dilapidated primary schools,” he explained.
Looking ahead, he announced plans to commission projects in February 2025, aiming to expand development efforts beyond just road infrastructure.
Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Secretary to the State Government, commended Fubara’s focus and resilience, highlighting his commitment to empowering Rivers State. Additionally, Hon. Awaji-Inombek Abiante, representing Andoni-Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency, recognized the governor’s leadership and called for those absent from the state’s development efforts to return and contribute to its rebuilding.
