This dramatic action follows North Korea’s recent declaration to sever the roads and railways, previously viewed as symbols of inter-Korean cooperation, in an effort to “completely separate” the two nations.
The Korean People’s Army (KPA) has characterized this explosive demolition as “a self-defensive measure to inhibit war,” asserting that it is a direct response to military exercises conducted in South Korea and the ongoing presence of American nuclear capabilities in the area.
