Vizianagaram MP Kalisetty Appalanaidu’s recent offer to incentivize women for having a third child has sparked widespread attention and commendation throughout the state.
This initiative aligns with statements made by both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, who emphasized the importance of boosting population growth. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu made headlines during a program in Markapur, Prakasam district, announcing that maternity leave will now be extended to all women employees, regardless of the number of children they have.
Naidu stated, “All women should have as many children as possible,” addressing inquiries regarding the maternity leave policy. He confirmed that maternity leave would now be applicable for all births, not limited to the first two.
Previously, women employees were entitled to six months of paid maternity leave only for two deliveries. However, the Chief Minister’s revised policy ensures that this benefit is now extended to cover all births.
In a related announcement, MP Kalisetty Appalanaidu proposed financial incentives for women who have a third child. Speaking at a gathering at Rajiv Sports Compound in Vizianagaram on International Women’s Day, Appalanaidu revealed that if a woman gives birth to a girl as her third child, she will receive a financial reward of Rs 50,000 from his salary. In the case of a boy, she will be given a cow.
This proposal has gained considerable traction on social media, particularly among party activists and supporters in the Ranasthalam mandal, who have been actively sharing it across various platforms.
