The aesthetic medicine sector is experiencing significant growth in Thailand, with an increasing number of younger individuals seeking cosmetic enhancements, leading to a surge in service providers entering the market.
Vimut Holding Hospital Co has launched a new initiative to tap into this growing demand.
Aesthetic medicine encompasses both surgical and non-surgical techniques aimed at enhancing one’s physical appearance.
“Vimut aspires to be at the forefront of holistic healthcare, offering services that cater to people’s health and beauty aspirations,” stated Surawee Chaithumrongkool, chief executive of Vimut, a subsidiary of Pruksa Holding Plc, which is well-known for its real estate ventures.
“Our facility is dedicated to positioning Thailand as one of Asia’s leading aesthetic destinations.”
Vimut has inaugurated its Maxillofacial Contouring Centre, which focuses on facial bone contouring procedures designed to reshape and enhance facial structures.
This centre targets younger demographics, as there is a notable rise in patients within this age group.
The typical age of individuals in Thailand interested in cosmetic surgery ranges from 20 to 45 years, according to Chanchai Wongchuensoontorn, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at the centre.
Individuals with facial asymmetries or disproportionate features are encouraged to explore surgical options for enhancements. A harmonious facial structure often hinges on proportionality in features, particularly in key areas like cheekbones, jawline, chin, and brow arches, experts report.
Thailand’s cosmetic surgery and aesthetic treatment market is expected to grow annually by 2.3% to 3.6%, reaching approximately 70 billion baht last year, based on findings from K-Research.
Interestingly, the average age of cosmetic surgery patients is decreasing as a wider demographic seeks these services. This trend persists despite economic downturns in other sectors, with interest rising among traditionally overlooked groups such as younger males and members of Gen Z, in addition to female millennials and the LGBTQIA+ community.
The newly established Vimut centre aims for a revenue target of 20 million baht for the current year, with plans to increase this to 30 million baht within a few years, according to Ms. Surawee.
