The Varahi Maha Rath Yatra kicked off at the Jeevalingeswara Swamy temple in Jeevakona on the outskirts of Tirupati on Sunday. The procession received a ceremonial welcome as the chariot traversed various city localities, ultimately reaching Indira Maidanam by evening. There, the sacred ‘Varahi Yagam’ was conducted, with rituals dedicated to the deity taking place after sunset, extending the festivities into the night.
Mabbu Devanarayana Reddy, honorary president of the Rath Yatra trust and State observer, joined local leaders in celebrating the inaugural chariot run. The event, attended by prominent figures including an MLA and a former Union Minister, aims to promote global peace and prosperity.
The Rath Yatra will continue its journey across the state, making stops at Nellore, Ongole, Vijayawada, Rajamahendravaram, and Kakinada before concluding in Visakhapatnam on September 28.
