Star Wars Celebration in Japan is set to unveil an exciting new untitled strategy game developed by Bit Reactor, with producer Respawn Entertainment. The turn-based tactics game, set in the rich Star Wars universe, will have its own panel at the event on April 19, where attendees can expect an exclusive first look.
The panel schedule for the official Star Wars Celebration has confirmed this much-anticipated announcement. It has been over three years since EA revealed that Respawn was collaborating with Bit Reactor to develop this strategy title. Though details have been sparse, Bit Reactor reaffirmed last year that the game remains in development after news surfaced about the cancellation of a Star Wars first-person shooter from Respawn.
This project marks Bit Reactor’s debut game, and the studio boasts a talented roster with experience on critically acclaimed titles such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elder Scrolls Online.
Notably, this Star Wars strategy game is the only title confirmed for a panel at the forthcoming Star Wars Celebration. However, fans can also look forward to other projects on the horizon, such as Star Wars Eclipse from Quantic Dream and a rumored third installment in the Star Wars Jedi series. Meanwhile, the online game Star Wars Hunters is set to shut down later this year.
Additionally, recent reports indicate that Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, may be retiring, which could influence the future direction of Star Wars game development.
