In recent years, more than a dozen states have enacted laws banning nearly all abortions. While some laws include exceptions for rape, incest, and to protect the mother’s life, a vocal group of anti-abortion activists contends that even these exceptions are ethically unacceptable. They seek to eliminate not only all abortions but also specific fertility treatments, including IVF, arguing that embryos should hold the same rights as any human being.
In a recent report, activists identifying as “abortion abolitionists” expressed their mission to convert their beliefs into political action, expressing optimism about the advancements they’ve achieved thus far.
