In December 2022, British rapper Pa Salieu was sentenced to 33 months in prison after being convicted of violent disorder and the possession of a bottle as an offensive weapon from a 2018 incident. After serving approximately 21 months of his sentence, Salieu has now been released, as confirmed by his representative. The artist expressed his return on social media, saying, “I been gone for a while but I still made it back to you 👑.”
Salieu’s legal troubles stem from a confrontation outside Coventry’s Club M following the tragic stabbing of his friend, Fidel “AP” Glasgow. During the altercation, Salieu assaulted a 23-year-old man with a bottle and a tree branch. He was one of 11 individuals incarcerated due to the incident; however, no charges have been filed concerning Glasgow’s murder. At the time of the incident, Salieu was just 21 years old, and he was 25 when he received his prison sentence. In 2015, he was also given a suspended sentence for knife possession.
Despite the challenges, Salieu made a notable impact in the music industry with his debut album, Send Them to Coventry, released in 2020, followed by the Afrikan Rebel EP in 2021. He has collaborated with several prominent artists and earned a nomination for the Rising Star Award at the 2021 BRIT Awards. Salieu made his U.S. television debut with a performance of “Frontline” on a major late-night show in the same year.
