Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has leveled serious accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the party is leveraging religion, language, and communal unrest to distract from its political failures.
Speaking at a public gathering, Stalin stated, “They are using riots, religion, and language to hide their defeat.” He specifically criticized BJP’s alleged attempts to influence the education sector in Tamil Nadu, asserting that the party aims to manipulate the state’s higher education system for its political agenda.
Stalin remarked, “Sanghis wish to exploit religious pride for political gain in Tamil Nadu,” and labeled the BJP’s actions as a threat to the integrity of higher education in the state. He expressed concern over proposed amendments to the University Grants Commission’s regulations, which he believes are intended to curtail state authority over its universities.
“The state government is responsible for funding universities, paying staff salaries, and building infrastructure, thus it should have the right to govern them,” he emphasized.
He called for education rights to be reinstated under the State List, cautioning that if the BJP secures control over university administrations, it could enforce ideological constraints on students. “If that happens, our children will have to follow a curriculum dictated by the Union government,” he warned. He further commented on the potential implications of BJP appointees as vice-chancellors, stating, “They might impose conditions that our children should come to class only after drinking cow urine.”
