In Haiti, Secretary Blinken will engage with Transitional Presidential Council Coordinator Edgard Leblanc Fils and Prime Minister Garry Conille. The agenda will focus on advancing Haiti’s democratic transition as the U.S. reiterates its commitment to providing humanitarian assistance and supporting Haitian-led stabilization efforts. Additionally, he will meet with leaders of the Multinational Security Support mission to highlight the critical need for reestablishing security and promoting human rights within the country.
After concluding his discussions in Haiti, Secretary Blinken will proceed to the Dominican Republic for a meeting with President Luis Abinader. In Santo Domingo, the talks will emphasize fortifying the enduring partnership between the two nations, focusing on inclusive economic growth, human rights advocacy, and enhancing governance, security, and climate resilience. These objectives will be driven by initiatives like the U.S.-Caribbean Partnership to Address the Climate Crisis (PACC 2030) and the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative (CBSI).
