Tyson Fury is determined to reclaim his status as a champion by knocking out Oleksandr Usyk in their highly anticipated rematch, scheduled for December 21 in Riyadh. Following a split decision loss in their first encounter in May, Fury seeks redemption and aims to regain the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles.
Before facing Usyk, Fury had an impressive undefeated streak of 35 professional fights. He has a history of triumph in rematches, having previously knocked out Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora after going the distance with both in their initial bouts.
“I have to be a little bit more focused and smart to get the victory,” Fury stated during a press conference in London. He confidently added, “In my rematches, I always end up knocking them out, so I’m envisaging something similar against Usyk.”
Meanwhile, Usyk, who has maintained his unbeaten record in 22 professional fights, took a lighthearted jab at Fury, presenting a photo of himself landing a punch on Fury and asking for his signature.
Despite the playful atmosphere, Fury emphasized his focus on learning from his previous defeat. “I believe it’s my time this time. All things that happen, positive or negative, are lessons, and we must learn from these experiences as humans. What we know is to go out there and knock each other out, and to put on a show for the paying customers,” he remarked.
It’s important to note that this time around, not all four heavyweight championship belts will be contested, as Usyk vacated the IBF title in June. The upcoming clash promises to be a thrilling showdown, reigniting the fierce rivalry between two of boxing’s heavyweight titans.
