Former President Donald Trump has announced that he is “immediately revoking” former President Joe Biden’s security clearances—a move echoing Biden’s decision four years ago when he revoked Trump’s access shortly after taking office.
Typically, former presidents retain access to intelligence briefings after their term, but Biden cited Trump’s “erratic behavior” as the reason for revocation in 2021.
Now, Trump is mirroring this action, claiming that Biden “set this precedent” by stripping his clearances upon leaving office.
In a post, Trump criticized Biden’s cognitive abilities and referenced a report by special counsel Robert Hur, which noted Biden’s “poor memory.” After an investigation concerning Biden’s handling of classified materials post-vice presidency, prosecutors concluded that charges were not warranted.
“The Hur Report revealed that Biden suffers from ‘poor memory’ and, even in his ‘prime,’ could not be trusted with sensitive information,” Trump stated. “I will always protect our National Security — JOE, YOU’RE FIRED.”
