The Thai government has unveiled the “Amazing Thailand 365 Days” campaign to promote domestic tourism year-round through digital channels.
According to government spokesman Chai Wacharonke, recent tourism data indicates that travelers are increasingly exploring less-frequented provinces alongside popular destinations.
This trend aligns with Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin’s initiative to enhance tourism in both undiscovered areas and major cities such as Phuket and Chiang Mai.
Currently, Mae Hong Son, Trang, and Ayutthaya rank as the top three provinces attracting tourists. Mae Hong Son is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and outdoor activities, while Trang features 46 beautiful islands, including Koh Kradan, which was named the world’s best beach by the World Beach Guide last year. Ayutthaya stands out with its rich historical significance as an ancient capital.
Accommodation searches in Mae Hong Son and Trang have skyrocketed, showing a 149% and 143% year-on-year increase, respectively.
Other provinces gaining traction among tourists include Satun, Phetchaburi, Narathiwat, Rayong, Kalasin, Buri Ram, and Songkhla.
In addition, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has partnered with local companies to launch the Amazing Thailand 365 Days project, leveraging generative AI for itinerary planning.
Tourists can access AI-powered trip planning tools and discover tourist attractions, festivals, and events nationwide via the campaign’s dedicated website.
“The prime minister is focused on tracking tourism trends to enhance Thailand’s appeal,” Mr. Chai remarked. “Digital technology serves as a vital tool to provide convenience and modernize tourism.”
