Post-rock pioneers Tortoise have made a significant comeback with the release of their first new single in nearly a decade, titled “Oganesson.” This highly anticipated track is now available and serves as a teaser for a forthcoming collection of music from the renowned band.
“Oganesson” was expertly recorded by drummer John McEntire at several notable studios, including 64 Sound in Los Angeles and Flora Recording and Playback Studios in Portland, Oregon, as well as the iconic Electrical Audio in Chicago. McEntire took on the mixing duties, with mastering handled by Dave Cooley.
The current lineup of Tortoise, featuring McEntire alongside Jeff Parker, Dan Bitney, Douglas McCombs, and John Herndon, last released the album The Catastrophist in 2016, marking their first studio effort since 2009’s Beacons of Ancestorship.
