A tragic incident occurred at Cochin International Airport in Nedumbassery on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a three-year-old boy. The accident took place near a cafeteria opposite Arrival Terminal 1.
The young boy, identified as Rithan from Rajasthan, was playing outside the cafeteria with his brother while their parents were dining inside. In a heartbreaking turn of events, Rithan accidentally fell into a garbage pit during playtime.
Despite being rushed to the hospital, medical personnel were unable to save him. In response to this tragedy, airport authorities have taken precautionary measures by covering the pit with a plastic sheet to prevent future accidents.
In a separate incident, a schoolgirl lost her life, and several others sustained injuries when their school bus overturned in Kannur, Kerala, on January 2. This unfortunate event occurred near Valakkai Bridge at an intersection. CCTV footage reveals the Kurumathur Chinmaya School bus losing control on a slope and flipping over onto a lower road while transporting students home after school.
Reports indicate that 14 children were injured in this accident. The Sreekantapuram police have initiated a case, citing charges of culpable homicide.
