Three individuals have lost their lives in a violent incident at the border between Jordan and the occupied West Bank, according to Israeli officials. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that three Israeli civilians were killed in the shooting at the Allenby Bridge crossing.
Reports indicate that the assailant approached from the Jordanian side in a truck, exited the vehicle, and opened fire. The gunman was subsequently neutralized by security forces, and the IDF is currently inspecting the truck for potential explosives.
According to medical sources, the victims were men in their 50s. In response to the attack, Jordan has closed its border and launched an investigation into the situation. The incident occurred in an Israeli-controlled area where Jordanian vehicles typically unload goods destined for the West Bank.
The Allenby Bridge, also referred to as the King Hussein Bridge, is strategically located almost equidistant from Amman and Jerusalem, serving as the sole official crossing point between the West Bank and Jordan.
