The Waterboys have announced an exciting collaboration with a stellar lineup of artists, including Fiona Apple, Bruce Springsteen, and Steve Earle, to create a concept album titled Life, Death and Dennis Hopper. This much-anticipated album is set to be released on April 4 and will feature the lead single "Hopper’s on Top (Genius)" debuting on January 10.
Mike Scott of the Waterboys emphasizes the profound impact of Dennis Hopper’s life, stating, “The arc of his life was the story of our times.” He notes Hopper’s significant contributions to youth culture, art movements, and the counter-culture scene of the ’60s, as well as his remarkable career resurgence in the following decades. Scott explains that the album explores not only Hopper’s life story but also the broader experience of being human.
The album will follow the Waterboys’ 2022 release, All Souls Hill, and features contributions from several notable musicians, including Sugarfoot, Kathy Valentine, and Taylor Goldsmith.
